FAQ

Is Loose Skin The Result Of Liposuction?

If skin can look loose and saggy after liposuction, then it stands to reason that liposuction is the cause, right? No. Liposuction does not cause sagging skin. What liposuction does is remove the volume beneath skin by eliminating excess fatty tissue. When this is done, though, skin that does not have good laxity does not bounce back and retract the way one might like. Tissue laxity is not a matter of fat, though, it is a matter of chemical balance.

Bruising and ecchymosis also occur in all liposuction patients immediately after the procedure, peaks by the end of 7-10 days, but generally disappear by 2-4 weeks after surgery.

Are burns treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Given within the first 48 to 72 hours of a burn injury, HBO therapy increases the oxygen saturation in the body, which speeds up the recovery process.

Can you compress with lipo burn?

Yessssss! A compression garment is often worn directly after liposuction to aid in the healing process. By adding external pressure to the body where incisions have been made, the swelling is reduced.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that removes redundant skin and soft tissues of the lower abdomen while tightening the abdominal core muscles.

How should I sleep or get massages after a tummy tuck procedure?

💫Sleeping or even resting in the wrong position may slow down the rate and quality of the recovery.

💫Laying flat on your back stretches out the abdomen, placing pressure on the incisions and muscle repair!

💫You should always be at a slight bent position to avoid ruining your muscle repair or potentially opening your incision!

💫Don’t let anyone LAY YOU FLAT‼️

How to avoid a FAJA BURN?

Make sure you wear a “under garment” against your skin (NO EXCEPTIONS) The skin is very sensitive after liposuction or a tummy tuck. A smooth cami or (stretchy) long or short sleeve t-shirt will work. Make sure the cami or t-shirt is fitted (snuggly) to avoid excessive bunching beneath the faja causing marks. Have on the correct size faja, not to big, not to small and have it taken in as it gets to big for you. Listen to your body, if it feels like something is burning in a specific area >>Check it out right away just to be sure. Do preventative maintenance, such as take pictures or have someone take pictures (zoom in) each time you remove your faja to check for any changes in the appearance of the skin, burns, bruising or necrotic tissue developing. Catching any issues early on can minimize the severity by starting with early treatment.

Treating the wound! Every wound will not be the same and the healing process may be longer for some!

“Silvadene” apply three times a day and cover with a dry sterile dressing. If or once the wound opens, only cleanse with normal saline. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, this can damage healthy tissue!

The progression of a burn will get worse before it gets better. It will be frustrating but with patience & the proper treatment it will heal overtime!

Is post-op genital swelling normal?

It's completely normal and called: Dependent Edema
The word “dependent” means in a downward position, and “edema” means swelling.

Dependent Edema occurs because of gravity. Surgery in the abdomen, whether liposuction, a tummy tuck, or even a BBL causes swelling in areas above or near to the genitals. Much of this swelling is “free floating” under the skin, and it simply goes to the lowest point which includes the genital areas (and may also affect the legs).

Don’t Worry‼️
It’s Temporary and Fixable.
As distressing as genital swelling can be (because it can look really awful), there is no need for initial concern. The swelling can resolve on its own slowly, or more quickly with Lymphatic Drainage Massages!

How to reduce Fibrosis after surgery?

♠️ Incisional Drainage
♠️ Manual lymphatic drainage massages and proper garment wear is key for reducing fibrosis after cosmetic surgery.
One of the most common secondary effects of surgery is fibrosis. Many people notice it some weeks after the surgery or during the post-op. At first, you may feel some lumps on the scar tissue, then you will notice that they get thick and hard, and you may feel pain in the area. To avoid fibrosis development it’s very important to start your post-op manual lymphatic drainage as soon as possible, to wear your garment 24/7 and to have the right compression to prevent the accumulation of fluid in order to heal properly and faster!

Wood therapy should not be use on thin Lipo skin during the first few months …. IT’S TO PAINFUL!!!

How successful is any form of liposuction or tummy tuck after age 60?

♠️Liposuction remains effective in older individuals in that it continue to successfully remove fatty tissue. However, contour is related to the amount of excess skin and fat and the most effective treatment depends on their relative proportions.

♠️Individuals with minimal excess skin, and skin that is able to retract and conform to recontouring are better candidates for liposuction

♠️As you age, the skin can become looser and may not conform/retract as well due to changes in its collagen. For this reason, a tummy tuck will need to be preformed.

♠️ Red light therapy (RLT) is a treatment that may help skin, muscle tissue, and other parts of your body heal. It exposes you to low levels of red or near-infrared light. Infrared light is a type of energy your eyes can’t see, but your body can feel as heat. This also helps with skin tightening and boost your natural collagen production

♠️Each case is different and certainly many people in their 60s can benefit from liposuction or a tummy tuck
